Detective case in evidence packets

How this game works

A museum’s donation ledger has disappeared. Reconstruct the closing shift, trace the records and explain which conclusions the evidence supports—and which questions remain open.

What players do

Read staff statements and records, complete a timeline, correct a camera timestamp and trace an available route on a printed map. Check packet counts, transfer numbers and locker records, separate cash from pledges, and classify claims before writing your final report. The investigation happens on paper, without a physical search.

What the organiser prepares

Read the host guide on page 2 first. Print pages 3–15 and divide them into three packets: A, pages 3–6; B, pages 7–10; C, pages 11–15. Keep the hints and solutions on pages 16–19 private. A separate host releases each packet when the group reaches the checkpoints in the guide. Prepare a shared copy, a pencil and scrap paper. No cutting or hidden props are needed.

Page numbers refer to the full-kit PDF.

  1. Start with Packet A

Reconstruct the Archive visitor and entry time. Show your reasoning to the host before receiving Packet B.

  2. Trace Packet B

Correct the camera clock and investigate the route, packet count and transfer record. The host releases Packet C after the clock correction and anomalous drawer are identified.

  3. Submit your report

Cross-check storage and donation records, classify the claims and write an evidence-backed report using Packet C.

How you finish

Give the report to the host before reading the answers. The host compares the reconstruction and reasoning with the solution, then reads the ending. Distinguish recorded facts, supported inferences, contradicted claims and questions the file cannot settle.
